Tessa van Raalte (1997) is a visual artist based in Arnhem. She collaborates with natural entities, creating space for inconspicuous life forms to guide her work and question the separation between human and nature. Using the camera as a means of documentation and translation, she explores the untamed and inexplicable character of green spaces. Through repeated actions such as walking, collecting, and noticing, Van Raalte forms ambiguous rituals that deepen her connection to landscapes and materials. By making photo-developers with plants or letting images be altered by fungi, her work gains a materiality tied to each subject and place, where time becomes visible—stabilised yet ever-evolving. Her images rarely depict reality, but rather impressions of what lies hidden beneath: a precarious, wild beauty.
